How is Green Beer Made?

Sky Watch Friday

For those who only visit the archive for the Sky Watch, this week has been celebrating Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe Beach.

This entry allowed me to combine the sky and the sculpture with the Indian Ocean.

The man made part is a reference to over-fishing in the oceans of the world.

Being the sort of person I am, I thought of basketball.

The sky is just one of the bonuses of a Perth Autumn day.

Beside the green of Hyde Park is a little old road, Glendower St.

Parts of it still have that turn of the 19th century feeling.

BBC Science Quiz

For those of my readers who indulge in the BBC Quiz of the Week, here is a BBC Quiz on Science.

No hats or crowns, just the satisfaction of learning whether you are a geek or a Sci-Fi buff.

The Mole Hole

A papa mole, a mama mole, and a baby mole all live in a little mole hole.

One day the papa mole sticks his head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says, “Yum! It smells like maple syrup to me!”

The mama mole sticks her head out of the hole, sniffs the air and says, “Yum! It smells like honey to me!”

The baby mole tries to stick his head out of the hole to sniff the air, but the bigger moles are in the way, so he says, “Gee, all I can smell is…. molasses!

A final look at the Cottesloe Sculpture by the Sea for 2011.

un-named glass form ~ Toshio Iezumi.

everything changes everything returns ~ George Andric

Im not certain this was a part of the event. It does not appear in the catalogue yet it is one of the more striking works in the area. A Range Rover which may have been left over from a previous exhibition. I found it irresistible.

The final three images are possibly NSFW and so are over the jump. Unlike previous years, there were no obvious nude female figures or references. Instead, there were a number of nude male figures. Continue reading

What Punctuation Mark Are You?

Oh yes! And we all know what colons are full of – – –

You Are a Colon

You are very orderly and fact driven.

You aren’t concerned much with theories or dreams… only what’s true or untrue.

You are brilliant and incredibly learned. Anything you know is well researched.

You like to make lists and sort through things step by step. You aren’t subject to whim or emotions.

Your friends see you as a constant source of knowledge and advice.

(But they are a little sick of you being right all of the time!)

You excel in: Leadership positions

You get along best with: The Semi-Colon

Planting the Dog

There was once a veterinarian who loved to hack gene sequences. One day he successfully grafted pieces of cantaloupe DNA to the DNA of a dog zygote. The engineered zygote soon developed into a little puppy. The result was far less dramatic than one might expect. The animal was recognizably canine, if tiny and roly poly. Its fur had an overall orange tint. The vet raised the puppy to adulthood and all was generally fine, though the animal was rather small and rotund.

The veterinarian noticed that his dog was becoming lethargic and increasingly morose. Being concerned with the animal’s overall health and mental well-being, the vet tried many things to cure his dog’s apparent depression. After all, he felt guilty that its growing languishment could be the direct result of his genetic experimentation. He tried altering the animal’s diet, its exercise, and its play, but nothing seemed to help. Finally he took the dog to an animal psychiatrist.

The vet sat in the waiting room while the orange tinted dog was in with the animal counsellor. Finally the door opened, and the veterinarian rose to his feet. The psychiatrist came out with the dog.

“Tell me, Doctor. What’s wrong? Is my dog going to be okay?”

“Don’t worry, Doctor. He’ll be fine. He’s just a little melon collie.”

Here I stand, watching the tide go out
So all alone and blue
Just dreaming dreams of you

I watched your ship
As it sailed out to sea
Taking all my dreams
And taking all of me

The sighing of the waves
The wailing of the wind
The tears in my eyes burn
Pleading, “My love, return”

Why, oh, why must I go on like this?
Shall I just be a lonely
Stranger on the Shore?

The sighing of the waves
The wailing of the wind
The tears in my eyes burn
Pleading, “My love, return”
Why, oh, why must I go on like this?
Shall I just be a lonely
Stranger on the shore?
