SUNSETS
Refractions burned red through suspended soot
Blood dripping from the upper reaches of Hades
Pollutant mingling with pollutant –
In such things men may see beauty
Pale reflection of hereafter
Mystical vision nightly repeated
Showing hope of the morrow
Pure light bent through molecules of rarified gas
A further retinal bending
And men see beauty.
