About

Ærchie is, as is proper for all writers, a nomdayplume. I also have a nomnightplume for after-hours activitiesme.

Old enough to know better, I look on the world of humanity with a jaundiced eye, on the natural world with a digital camera and on books with delight. I also look for dragons.

Have ambitions of being an actual writing writer, I continue to have all the attributes of a writer. Thinking, plotting, researching and procrastinating! At sixtummmmmmmm years of age, I may finally know enough about the world to write a few words.

To see some of them, please visit the pages above. Poetry, archies musings and Travelling North all contain some of my writing.
Bookstack I also post some of my photographs because they are fun, both in the taking and the sharing.

In between there is a lot of silly stuff which hopefully will attract a lot of people looking for silly stuff. That way, when something serious is posted it is read by lots of people.

Like most writers, I have an ego!As Kahlil Gibran said, “Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you.”

  1. I came across your site when researching “quails” today and I am a writer - so I thought I would say G’day. I am currently living in Tasmania but was born in Adelaide. I hope you may stop by at one of my sites too. All the very best to you.

  2. You okay? Four days without posting … should we send out a search party?

  3. Archie. Did you know on WordPress, you can embed videos from Youtube by taking a Youtube video url e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9kVhtpfLmw and converting it to:
    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9kVhtpfLmw]
If you have a free Youtube account, the only space it takes up on your blog is that used up by the text string pointing to it. See it in action here:

Of course, you don’t have to link to other people’s videos. Just about anyone can upload now. Regards, Lucien

  4. Found your site while doing research for mine. I started a web site for race fans here in the states, but I also list and feature blogs that contain other good, fun, and interesting articles, pics, and people. I love your site! Will do a shout out next week and post links for my readers. My husband and I love Australia and still dream of retiring there. You pics are beautiful, if you have any I can tease my readers with let me know. I plan to research your links and blog roll completely, I just have to find time. g’day, mate!!

  5. Thank you, Kimberly. Feel free to use my pictures on your blog, all I ask is that you give credit and a link. I’ll look up your site when Life returns to normal for me :) Thanks, mate

  6. Archie - It is heart-warming indeed to find another “sixtummmmmmmm” something blogging away on the Internet. You have a great place here, and we have a bit in common, as my grandfather Arthur was Australian too.

  7. Thank you for those kind words, Neddy. What was your father’s name and where did he live? In another existance I am a compulsive genealogist and am addicted to looking up people from the past.

  8. G’day Archie, Synchronicity found me here. May I use your “stressed out” on my blog: http://www.canadianchristine.wordpress.com
    ?
    In Light and Love,
    Christine

  9. Hiya Christine, welcome to the weirdest blog in the blogoswamp. I can’t let you use “Stressed Out” as it is not mine to dispose of. I found it in the depths of my files from the very early days of the http://WWW. Someone did it at some time, but his identity has been lost. So I guess it was that strange guy “anon.” I would enjoy a link but that is not compulsory in this case. Synchronicity is its own reward.

  10. Its all about eating at the right amount at the right time. Thanks for the comments..very interesting blog.

  12. I found you while looking for Cthulhu pictures. Very eclectic, like a personal journal ought to be!

  15. Hola! Wasn’t sure where to put this, so I thought I’d put it here. :)

Came across two interesting photo blogs this morning that I thought you’d like (though you may have already come across them yourself). I believe they are husband and wife.

The first one should be of particular interest … ;)
