If I appear obsessed with these critters, it is only because there are so many of them at this time of the year.
They are the same size as the Zebra Finches and are attracted to light. At night the desert quiet is destroyed by the sound of these things hitting windows. It is almost impossible to walk inside without bringing in several at a time.
A walk near any vegetation disturbs scores of them and they fly in random directions for tens of metres at a time.
The birds are having a feast!










I live in the Sonoran desert in southern Arizona. It is interesting that so many of the pictures of plants and animals you post are so similar to our own.
