About

Ærchie is, as is proper for all writers, a nomdayplume. I also have a nomnightplume for after-hours activitiesme.

I’ve been described as a dumb atheist leftist sodomite pervert f*ckwit troll. Six outa seven ain’t bad 🙂

Old enough to know better, I look on the world of humanity with a jaundiced eye, on the natural world with a digital camera and on books with delight. I also look for dragons.

Having had ambitions of being an actual writing writer, I continue to have all the attributes of a writer. Thinking, plotting, researching and procrastinating! At sixtummmmmmmm years of age, I may finally know enough about the world to write a few words.

To see some of them, please visit the pages above. “My Stuff” contains some of my writing.
Bookstack I also post some of my photographs because they are fun, both in the taking and the sharing.

In between there is a lot of silly stuff which hopefully will attract a lot of people looking for silly stuff. That way, when something serious is posted it is read by lots of people.

Like most writers, I have an ego!As Kahlil Gibran said, “Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you.”

  3. Archie. Did you know on WordPress, you can embed videos from Youtube by taking a Youtube video url e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9kVhtpfLmw and converting it to:

If you have a free Youtube account, the only space it takes up on your blog is that used up by the text string pointing to it. See it in action here:

Of course, you don’t have to link to other people’s videos. Just about anyone can upload now. Regards, Lucien

  4. Found your site while doing research for mine. I started a web site for race fans here in the states, but I also list and feature blogs that contain other good, fun, and interesting articles, pics, and people. I love your site! Will do a shout out next week and post links for my readers. My husband and I love Australia and still dream of retiring there. You pics are beautiful, if you have any I can tease my readers with let me know. I plan to research your links and blog roll completely, I just have to find time. g’day, mate!!

  6. Archie – It is heart-warming indeed to find another “sixtummmmmmmm” something blogging away on the Internet. You have a great place here, and we have a bit in common, as my grandfather Arthur was Australian too.

  9. Hiya Christine, welcome to the weirdest blog in the blogoswamp. I can’t let you use “Stressed Out” as it is not mine to dispose of. I found it in the depths of my files from the very early days of the WWW. Someone did it at some time, but his identity has been lost. So I guess it was that strange guy “anon.” I would enjoy a link but that is not compulsory in this case. Synchronicity is its own reward.

  34. Hey Ærchie .. thanks heaps for your info on boat arrivals. Just bookmarked your site and will send on the link, particularly to people who think that Tony has the ‘boat problem’ licked!

I guess the present state of no news is going to be an encouragement for more people to make the dangerous journey. Not to mention that denying global warming and thereby facilitating sea level rises will encourage even more people. And if our PM is that stupid he should take responsibility for more arrivals.

Just how do we keep people informed about boat arrivals?? This secrecy is working for some people I know!

  35. Hi, I like your boat arrivals blog. Is it at all possible to include a source of your information for your entries with the arrivals, This would help others I’m sure to get the word out. I sometimes hear articles on the radio but cant find the “evidence” later. Cheers Ron.

  36. Hiya Ron, Unfortunately things sorta just grow in a blog. You start something and there is something wrong with the presentation but it all becomes too difficult to correct. All of those entries are from a series of blog posts all titled something like “Refugees at Sea”. If you use the “search box” then you should find the info you are looking for – – – I hope 🙂
