Refugees at Sea; Dec 7th

7th December

This is the story we are told by Scott Morrison via Australia’s lazy media. The story is never questioned. Just repeated.

Excepting there are occasional vessels which do get through.

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) representative in Indonesia, Thomas Vargas, said last week, as reported by the ABC Indonesia correspondent George Roberts on 28th Nov 2014 that, “People were still getting on boats and Australia’s policies would not stop them. “It’s not going to solve the problem,” he said. “It may, in the short term, show some boats being stopped but these boats continue to leave from various places in the region and outside of the region. “This policy, a unilateral policy from any government is not going to stop it.” He said 100 asylum seeker boats had departed towards Australia since the start of the year.

Scott Morrison in the Joint Agency Task Force monthly update: November 2014 released on 02-12-2014 said, “During this reporting period (1 November 2014 to 30 November 2014.)  there were no illegal maritime arrivals transferred to Australian Immigration authorities. No illegal maritime arrivals were transferred to offshore processing centres.

I have looked through my record of attempts to reach Australia and found far, far less than 100 records. There was a report back in September of “28th July – 24th Sept – zero arrivals, 45 attempts stopped at source.”

So I thought I would googlecheck that oft repeated mantra “There have been no deaths at sea” and I found that the last recorded use of those words by the Minister was in the Border Protection Update of Thursday, 18 September 2014, ‘There have been no deaths at sea since last year compared with over 300 missing, confirmed or presumed deaths at sea in the year prior to OSB under the Labor government.

While I can remember many other sources in the Media repeating this claim, the Minister has not!

The ABC reported on Naval Personnel suffering from PTSD. Some horrific stories were told without mentioning dates although there were mentions of “Border Protection” and “Excessive secrecy” which seems to put at least some of the horror into Scott Morrison’s time in charge.

We have become accustomed to hearing obvious lies from our Prime Minister on so many subjects. The GST, Education, Pensions, the ABC and SBS; so many areas of Government were lied about and even those lies were lied about. Yet no one has ever questioned the veracity of out Minister for Immigration.

I have, in the past week, received a number of reports of P3’s (Orion Long-Range Search Aircraft) being based at Cocos Island. Of Border Protection vessels arriving and discharging some refugees. Of late night flights by “Gray” unmarked aircraft.  Of Border Protection personnel scattering over the Islands with binoculars and spending hours looking out to sea.

I have also received reports of Border Protection vessels arriving at Christmas Island. At least one Patrol Boat and a large “Blue” vessel which looks like Ocean Protector which was orange when last seen.

None of these vessels, at Cocos or CI, has appeared on “” which is characteristic of Border Protection.

So what is the truth?

No one knows. But we do know this Government is full of proven liars.

How much has Scott Morrison lied to us?

Morrison has failed to change human nature.

Morrison has failed to stop the boats.
They may not be getting far,
but escapees from oppression are still setting out or planning on setting out.
