Credlin Lie

  1. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!” You know, I remember my Grandmother telling me that when I was about 6 years old .. I had told her a lie and when found out I tried to keep it going. It didn’t work. And it still doesn’t work when my grand-children try it on me. Politicians should NEVER try it .. to their grandmothers or the general public!!!

  2. Perhaps Tony Abbott didn’t actually write that article on his website? After all, Julie Bishop has been guilty of plagiarism a few times, so it obviously isn’t a “hanging offence” for the Libs.

Tony probably didn’t read the article before it was posted on his website – he’s very busy doing important work for Australia.

  3. He might not have written that article, but he certainly said those very words at the Adelaide University back in 2004. He also recently lied about his “support” for Gardisal back in 2006, when in fact he originally sought to prevent its listing on the PBS (Howard forced him to get it listed), claiming it would *cause* cancer. This imbecile is a lying little git, but the press just goes totally soft on him *all* the time!

  4. Tony Abbott is certaiinly claiming that abortion statement as his: http://www.tonyabbott.com.au/LatestNews/ArticleswrittenbyTony/tabid/87/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3653/RATE-OF-ABORTION-HIGHLIGHTS-OUR-MORAL-FAILINGS.aspx

…and some TA further classics: “think there does need to be give and take on both sides, and this idea that sex is kind of a woman’s right to absolutely withhold, just as the idea that sex is a man’s right to demand I think they are both they both need to be moderated, so to speak. Panel discussion “Religion, Sex and Politics” on abc.com.au (19 March 2009)”

“The argument [behind climate change] is absolute crap. However, the politics of this are tough for us. Eighty per cent of people believe climate change is a real and present danger Quoted in “Town of Beaufort changed Tony Abbott’s view on climate changet” in the Australian (12 December 2009)”

“I won’t be rushing out to get my daughters vaccinated [for cervical cancer], maybe that’s because I’m a cruel, callow, callous, heartless bastard but, look, I won’t be Quoted in “I could be seen as ‘cruel’ on Gardasil: Abbott” in the Australian (09 November 2006)

Abortion is the easy way out. It’s hardly surprising that people should choose the most convenient exit from awkward situations. Quoted in “Rate of abortion high-lights our moral failings” on http://www.tonyabbott.com.au (17 March 2004)

I think I would say to my daughters if they were to ask me this question… it [their virginity] is the greatest gift that you can give someone, the ultimate gift of giving and don’t give it to someone lightly, that’s what I would say. Quoted in “The Monk might make sense” (28 Jan 2010)”

“It would be folly to expect that women would ever approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, their abilities and interests are different for physiological reasons Quoted in “Tony Abbott in ‘dark ages’ on women” by : Jenny Macklin in the Australian (16 March 2010)”

Keep up the work articles Archie.

  5. Very good work. Thank you.

By the way may I just pause for a minute on this one: “sex is a man’s right to demand”.

No no no no, sex is NOT a man’s right to demand. There is an essay on his outdated attitude to women right there.

Sex is something we share. “Demanding sex” is rapist territory. Is that what Tony thinks is OK? Please discuss.

  7. One small point. The lie in the Telegraph article belongs to Samantha Maiden and is not Credlin’s lie. I know you are suggesting Credlin wrote it but regardless it is factually wrong and just leaves us open to an attack from the Right.

    • From the feel of the article, this is a rewrite of a private release to SM. I assume SM did no checking, just rearranged the words. If that is the case, the information would have come from Credlin. It looks as though it comes from Credlin. While the words may have been typed by SM, the information would have been given to her by Credlin or someone else in Abbott’s office. I have changed the title by adding a Question Mark!

  8. The article suggests that Peta Credlin wants to become a mother.(inmplying for the first time) I believed that she and her husband already have a young son. I am unable to verify that via Google. Can anyone clarify?
