Many years ago, when the world was young, there were Works Picnics and Christmas Parties. There were Sunday School outings with three-legged races.
Tying all these events together were two treats.
There was always Peters Ice Cream in big green insulated tubs.
And there was always a keg of Mackay’s Ginger Beer.
Wandering through Northbridge I strolled down short, spectacularly tree-lined Money Street. Converted now to housing units, the Mackay’s Factory façade still stands.
I can still taste that fabled drink!
