A Bit of Perth

On a loop of the Swan River was a swampy, often inundated farm known as Burswood Island.

Over the years the farm failed and the “island” became the City dump.

Then, in the 1970’s it was decided that this eyesore, which happened to be beside the road from the Perth Airport to the City, needed to be beautified.

And so the Burswood Casino development began.

While other problems were created, there have been some marvellous parklands and sculpture to enrich the people of Perth.

  1. Bit cheesy, but I like it a lot. Some of the neo-Classical stuff is over the top but this is good.

  2. This seems to be the style for much of the sculpture in Burswood Park. More to come 🙂

  3. Sort of reminds me of Beauty and the Beast! Nice way to liven up a park.

  4. I had to look closely at this. At first I thought the parasol was some sort of animal climbing on her back!
