A Bit of Perth

Three things on note in this image.

Firstly the memorial to those from the suburb who gave their lives in WW1.

Secondly, the big pine tree has been grown from seed collected from a tree on the Gallipoli battlefield from 1915 which became known as the “Lone Pine“. This tree was planted in 1970 so it is just 40 years old.

Thirdly the Maylands Public Library in the background, a relic from the 1950’s is due to be replaced by a new, giant public building catering for recreation, information and library services. The new building, while larger, will have a lot less character!
