Busy Bees

There is a bottlebrush shrub flowering in Buff’s garden.

Attracting lots of bees.

All looking for a sip of nectar, accidentally spreading pollen around the plant.

I’m not sure what this wasp was doing there. Maybe it was looking for a drink.

Not that all the visitors were being busy bees. Some were just lazing around in the Spring sunshine.

  1. Lovely – apparently male Wasps do not have stings & consequently can be grabbed without harm to the grabber – not many people know that

  3. Archie, those photo’s are simply stunning to say the least.
    I always enjoy your pics of birds and now of bees…
    Are you trying to tell your readers something?
    But since you know such a lot about birds, here is a little test (taken with a little smile) :
    If the black swan brings black babies
    and the white swan brings white babies;
    what bird should not bring any babies?
    You find the answer, you know where.

  9. I suppose you could always get Mdm Buffé to find out by grabbing the Wapse – if she were to remain unstung, it might well be a male Wapse, but if she were stung ….. I do not know if political asylum would be available to you at the British Embassy ….

    With British reasonaing like this, you can see how the British contrived to lose the Gallipoli Campaign (1915) so heroically and so unnecessarily

  10. Herr troublesomeEagle, I inadvertently allowed the Mdm Buffe to see this suggestion. I am already in need of political asylum!

  11. I do so agree with the “asylum” bit … it’s the “political” bit I think is probably superfluous!
