Photo Hunt; Dusty

From my past in the desert. A dust storm kicked up by the winds swirling ahead of an approaching thunderstorm.. And I was caught on a dry salt lake. It got pretty Dusty inside the cabin of the truck by the time things quietened down again.

Rationed Recipes

The Second World War affected most aspects of life. Especially in the rationed supply of household goods. Rationing continued for some years after the war ended and so cooking became an exercise in frugality and innovation. I can remember Mum cheering when rationing finally ended when I was about eight. While we don’t have shortages [...]

A Bit of Perth

Bishop Hale’s Boys School became, in 1977, the offices for the headquarters for The National Trust of Australia (WA). The building, dated from 1852 ended its eduction career as the Perth Technical College. It was here that I studied applied mathematics which included Boolean Algebra in the early 1960′s and again where I attempted to [...]

Punish Passover

Passover is approaching. At the sedar table, every Jewish child will be retold the story of Moses and the Pharaoh, and how God brought boils, locusts, hail and the other plagues onto the Egyptians. Yet, in spite of this overwhelming evidence of God’s power and intentions, Pharaoh refused to let God’s people go. Finally, a [...]

A Bit of Perth

The Rural and Industries Bank (The R&I) was the local bank for many years. It’s magnificent head office on the corner of William St and St Georges Tce was, and still is, a landmark. Eventually the bank outgrew the space and the land was sold to Alan Bond (of America’s Cup fame) and he drew [...]
