Happy Birthday, Apple Macintosh

I have never owned an Apple “Mac”.

I have tried to use them but I have been too contaminated by Gatesware.

Yes, since you ask, I am strongly monolingual as well!

Yet I acknowledge that the Mac has an extremely important position in the history of home computing.

So, in honour of its 25th anniversary, here is the TV commercial which kicked the whole show off.

  1. That is one of the strangest ads I have ever seen :D Based on the book 1984 isn’t it?

  2. Welcome to the archive, Brad. Indeed it was based on that book. I just realised – so was Bush’s administration. The Apple Mac has a lot to answer for – - -

  3. No, no, no … you CAN’T blame Apple Mac for Bush … that’s just not fair! There’s no excuse for George W. Bush … he couldn’t have possibly read “1984″ … it’s far too “above” his comprehension level. He was just a social mistake which unfortunately had more of an influence than it deserved.

  4. I have just moved from the dark side or to the dark side, I’m not sure which. I acquired a MacBook Pro for Christmas after many years of Windows but in trying to avoid Vista I have got myself into other straights. I may or may not turn into a Mac fan, but I have been an iPod fan for quite a few years and I am now on my second, an iTouch. I think they are brilliant and so is iTunes.

  5. We switched from Windows to Mac a few months ago. For a couple of days there was a certain amount of incomprehension regarding the new computer. Now we don’t know how we managed to work within the dinosaur monolith that is Windows. And as we read about the new worm that is infecting Windows all over the world, we sit securely by using our Mac and not worrying about our firewall. Plus the computer is now so much faster now that it is not suffering the software indigestion that Windows creates.
