Tidal Flats

Settler’s Beach at Cossack on the north west coast of Western Australia.

Tide coming in. In or out.

The contrast between sand and sea is striking.

  1. That is an AMAZING photograph! I have never seen something like that! It’s also kinda trippy with the repetitive swirlingness the waves and the sand creates.

  2. Very excellent shot. It almost looks unearthly…

  3. @Maggie, Everyday the details change as the tide comes in and out. It was the swirliness which caught my eye.

    @WC, It is a strange landscape where fish swim for a part of the day and people walk their dogs at other times.

    @nursemyra, Thanks :)

  4. Beautiful Pic! (Would make the perfect PowerPoint background for a talk on environmental topics. :) )

    I would say, tide going out. In the foreground, note the little rivulets of water seeping out of the sand.

  5. Mike, you could well be correct about the tide going out. This shot was taken with my little Pentax Optio at dawn and so the lens was slightly fogged. I have linked this shot with a larger version on photobucket. Anyone who wants may use it in the interests of our rapidly degrading environment.
