NASA and the Face of God

NASA Photo of the Day from a couple of days ago.

An eerie blue glow and ominous columns of dark dust highlight M78 and other bright reflection nebula in the constellation of Orion. The dark filamentary dust not only absorbs light, but also reflects the light of several bright blue stars that formed recently in the nebula. Of the two reflection nebulas pictured above, the more famous nebula is M78, on the upper right, while NGC 2071 can be seen to its lower left. The same type of scattering that colors the daytime sky further enhances the blue color. M78 is about five light-years across and visible through a small telescope. M78 appears above only as it was 1600 years ago, however, because that is how long it takes light to go from there to here. Then I studied the blue part to the right, M78. I looked closely and saw what may be the Face of God. I have no idea which God but He is there. Peering around the corner.

Or perhaps I am hallucinating again

    Feeling better now? ;)

I do love that NASA site and don’t visit it as often as I should.

Gee, look at the steam coming off that cold pack! She musta been thinking :)

  4. az, thank you … I felt quite queer there for a minute. T’is HIS fault … talking about blue men in the sky. I wonder what he’s been taking???!

None of us take enough notice of NASA these days … if we did we may not authorise idiots to spend our money on never-ending, totally unnecessary , so-called “wars” and tell them to spend it on achieving the ultimate in space travel. Do you realise how long it’s been since a man walked on the moon? NASA has been degraded, demoted to being nothing more than a small and under-funded scientific study group and all the dreams they had have been relegated to the history books. Instead of being out there DOING something, these photographs of incredible and almost miraculous things are all that remain of the striving for the immortality Man once dreamed of achieving.

Man has only been on the moon in the lifetime of two of our kids! I wonder if man will walk on the moon during the lifetime of the third of our offspring.

  5. “blue men in the sky”

    Is this Hindu-related?

A song from the days you were still in knickerbockers – - -
