Goodbye Punmu

I’m booked on an ‘plane at 5pm. It is a couple of hours drive away so I’m out around 1pm this afternoon.

We have had no rain for three days so the roads should be fairly dry and, while there is a cyclone developing north west of Broome it will not affect us in time to stop my escape this time.

Here in Punmu there is a saying. “Going one way.” Which means leaving for good. I hope I am not going one way. One day, sometime soon, there may be more work for me here. In the meantime, it is time to catch up with family and friends.

So this is the view of the store I have managed for the past two months.

In my rear view mirror!

  2. Wonderful picture Archie! And a very safe journey home to you!

Thanks, litlove. I watched the Flying Fairies all the way home and they did a good job keeping the wings in the air.

  3. Safe journey, Archie!

When you are safely home and have caught your breath, I’d be glad to hear if there was any reaction at Punmu to “Sorry Day”.

Not really. While it was important to the elders, none of them were in town. They were all off doing their own LORE stuff.

  4. That’s a fantastic shot!

Welcome to the archive, Charles. Thank you for your kind comment – after looking at your blog, it means a lot. Some of your shots are truly great!

  5. Welcome home!

Thank you, the fairies helped :)

  6. *Zoonie voice* Welcome Home, nice pic :-)

Thanks, P. It’s good to sleep in a bed again. Rather than a canvas condom!

  7. That’s a wonderful ‘goodbye’ shot…

Thanks, az. It was a little “posed” but it seems to say what I wanted it to say :)

  8. Have a good trip home.

Skywest even had an edible chicken curry as the inflight meal. And they made it all the way down to Perth! In a real Fokker of an aircraft! :)
