The media must be controlled. All Governments know that fact.
In this week where our regional radio networks were demoted to relay aerials for urban broadcasters it is worth looking back at last July and Kudelka’s view on media concentration and control.

It’s becoming really difficult keeping track of all the diverse media at your fingertips these days. There are too many points of view from too many people making everything too bloody complicated and the ABC doesn’t even have ads to break up the monotony.
It’s hard enough finding the crossword in your morning paper without having to dig out the 50 or 60 remote controls you need simply to turn up the radio or watch a bit of telly.
The John Howard Universal Remote Control consolidates all your media into just one button. Just press once for “on”, get infotained until you can take no more, then press one more time for “off”*. It also looks extremely stylish sitting on the arm of the Chesterfield while you lie back and take in the latest episode of Parliamentary Big Brother Survivor Temptation Island When Politicians Go Bad Turkey Slapping Question Time.
Hey, it’s the only thing on…
*Draft legislation is in the works for the “off” feature to be discontinued by 2010.

I’m not sure how to illustrate my displeasure at the plethora of Government advertising which is being inflicted upon us at the moment, especially the wrongly-named “independant Workplace Agreement Review” thingy! I counted ten ads … yes, TEN!!! … for this QANGO last night in approximately 2 hours and I’m getting more and more furious by the day as to how much money this double-damned Government is spending to properganderise (I know it’s not a real word, but then … neither are the ads!) their supposed good works! I am also fed up with Barbara the Blonde, although she seems to be taking a little bit of leave at the moment (since the hue and cry arose about her employment as a Public Servant and the illegality of her being used to promote a Government scheme), medical and pharmaceutical information (or misinformation, to be more precise), Border Security and Customs and Excise when we all know they are under-staffed, undertrained and under equipped to do their job correctly … look at the equine ‘flu disaster! And perhaps I should list all the other wastes of time, but I don’t have enough room for that!
Dear Archie
We all know how much you ‘adore’ ‘love’ ‘admire’ this man, so I thought I send you a little picture of him:

Hope you enjoy
Buff, I’m glad you said all that. That way ASIO can knock on your door. It is now official that remembering what John Howard has done in the past is anti-Australian!
John – good one!
