In this world where many species of plants and animals are in danger of extinction from natural forces and changes, it seems migrating birds are in especial danger in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
The BBC has a slideshow of the carnage caused by the very lax hunting laws in Malta. Warning – some slides could be distressing to viewers. Much more graphic than the picture of the turtle dove shown here.
Could there be a way those of us who are bird-lovers and bloggers could effect a change in Malta’s perception of the migratory birds which fly across the island each year?
Suggestions are welcome. Petitions, boycotts, email campaigns are some possibilities.

Darren Barefoot commented on this not long ago. I believe he’s moving there.

I do not know this barefooted person but I will visit his site. Thank you for the information.
I looked at the barefoot person’s post. there are several comments from people who think it is exaggeration but he promises to report back after living in malta for a while. should be interesting
I have also spent time on his site. The BBC thing seems to have been published after he left. It will be interesting to see his reaction when he returns.
